Age: 1st/2nd Grade

Layton City Recreation will again be participating in the Northern Utah Rec. Baseball Championships this year. This is a combined baseball tournament with Farmington, Kaysville, Syracuse, West Haven, and other northern Utah cities. This tournament is a collaborative effort of the Recreation Departments of these cities. The tournament is designed to give recreation baseball players an opportunity to represent their city and play in an advanced tournament setting. Layton City Recreation will have open try-outs for the All-Star program on Saturday, June 8th at Ellison Park. The All-Star teams will be announced on our www.quickscores.com/laytoncity website on Tuesday, June 11th.Players must be present at the All-Star try-outs to be considered for placement on an All-Star team. We will have 2-4 All-Star teams from the Machine Pitch division (exact number TBD). Each team will have 12 total players. Unfortunately, not everyone who tries out will be selected. All-Star teams will be selected by the All-Star coaches in that division. Only players that registered for our regular season Layton City 2024 machine pitch leagues can try-out for All-Star teams.

The K-3rd Grade Jr Jazz program is an instructional basketball program for boys in kindergarten through 3rd grade. Program registration includes reversible jersey and Utah Jazz game ticket. Kindergarten and 1st grade play a clinic style program with 30 minute practice followed by 30 minute game on Saturdays. The 2nd and 3rd grade leagues include a mid-week practice and Saturday game. Ball size is 28.5 (women’s). Games are played at Legacy Jr High or Central Davis Jr High. Registered participants are placed on teams according to the school they attend whenever possible. Carpool, friend, and coach requests will not be honored. Volunteer coaches are needed.

The Layton City Youth Cross Country program is a fitness program for youth interested in and excited about running. The Cross Country program is designed to introduce youth 9-18 years old to cross country and distance running in a fun, safe and controlled environment. A typical training session will include general introduction, overview of cross-country principles, warm-up, stretching, group run and exercises, followed by a cool down period.

Age: 7 - 17 years old

The Fit Kids program is designed to get youth into having fun while getting physically fit. The program incorporates many of the following training tools and models: • Medicine balls • Body weight exercises • Plyometrics • Pilates • Resistance bands • Ladders • Yoga • Speed & agility drills The Fit Kids program aims to improve overall individual fitness, help develop healthy exercise habits and having fun. The program will focus on improving participants’ overall fitness by focusing on many aspects of fitness including: • Coordination • Injury Prevention • Flexibility • Running Technique • Body weight strength • Self-Confidence

Nightly scores will be averaged for standings, with final league rankings made at the end of the session. Participants are expected to bring their own paddles. The scheduled time is set only for league play. There are no lessons or practice time provided during the course of this league session.

Pickleball League Indoor Spring Session 2024

Age: 6 - 14 years old

Spock’s Skate Camp is for boys and girls 6-14 years old. All skill levels are welcome. Program focuses on skatepark etiquette and safety as well as learning fundamental skateboard skills in a controlled and safe environment. Must provide own skateboard. Helmet, elbow, and knee pads are required. Classes are held on Wednesdays from 9:00am – 11:00am. Sessions are available in June, July, and August.

Tackle football program for boys and girls grades 2nd - 9th (2023/2024 school year). Layton City is a member of the Wasatch Front Football League (WFFL) and follows all WFFL league rules and bylaws (www.wffl.com). ***NEW FOR 2023 - A, B, C, Level Divisions.*** Practices will begin on Monday, July 31st (subject to change). Practices are one and half hours a night, five days a week. Games begin mid-August. Games are played on Saturdays at locations along the Wasatch Front from Preston, Idaho to Kaysville. After games begin, practices are limited to one and half hours a night, four days a week. For the Jr Mite Division (2nd/3rd grade) practices are limited to 3 total hours per week after games begin. Program consists of seven (7) league games and playoffs for ALL teams. The youngest division (Jr Mite) does not participate in playoffs. A level TRYOUTS will be held July 1st - July 20th (exact date(s) to be determined by coaching staff). B/C level participants are drafted onto teams by coaches during the first week of practice. Carpool, friend, and coach requests will not be honored. Participation Requirements 1. Player Registration (online or in person at the Parks and Recreation Department)* *Must be completed before the registration deadline to ensure league participation. 2. Participation Documents*** (may be turned in after player registration) o Proof of Residency (utility bill) – LAYTON, HAFB, and SOUTH WEBER RESIDENTS ONLY o Proof of Grade (4th quarter report card 2022/2023 or official documentation showing grade) o Physical (must be dated within last six months from the first day of conditioning) o Current weight on player o WFFL Football Player Registration Agreement o Copy of Birth Certificate *** Must be submitted at the Parks and Recreation Office prior to equipment pick-up. Documents are NOT accepted at equipment check-out.*** Jr. Mite 2nd/3rd Grade Beginning with the 2019 season the WFFL has adopted the USA Football Modified Tackle Football rules for the Jr Mite Division (2nd/3rd grade) • Jr Mite Division will play 8 versus 8 on a smaller modified field • Each team will have a maximum four (4) coaches • Teams will have a maximum of 16 players • Game times will be 1 hour in length • After games begin, practice is limited to 3 hours per week

Tennis lessons available for boys and girls 5 years old up through adult. All skill levels welcome. Program consists of eight, one-hour lessons. Classes are held monthly May through October. Class size is limited and early registration is recommended.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the cancellation of our track and field program. After careful consideration and evaluation of our current facilities, we have concluded that we are unable to provide the necessary facilities to continue the program safely and effectively.

Age: 4th - 9th grade

The Layton City Youth Volleyball program is a recreation/beginner level volleyball program. The volleyball program is designed for youth in 4th through 9th grade to play volleyball. Coaches will be assigned teams and will work with their team to instruct them on the basics of volleyball.
