Volunteer Training: Davis County Point in Time (PIT) Count
06:00 PM to 07:00 PM
The Point in Time (PIT) Count is a nationwide effort to tally the number of unsheltered Americans living on the street on a single night in January. It began in 2003 and is now held every year. Each count is planned, coordinated and carried out locally. The data from the survey is used to determine the funding for homeless programs. It also identifies changes and trends among the homeless population and raises public awareness.
Volunteers work in teams to find and connect with individuals experiencing homelessness in Davis County. We explore areas known for use by the homeless, including local trails, parks and businesses. The volunteers interview individuals to complete the PIT surveys and provide gift cards, backpacks and community resources.
