Three Layton City Council seats open

Layton City will be holding an election for three City Council seats. The seats are “at-large,” meaning they are open to candidates city-wide. Each position has a four-year term.

Interested residents of Layton City may become candidates by filing a Declaration of Candidacy at the City Recorder’s Office between June 1-June 8, during regular business hours. A $25 filing fee is required to file.

Candidates must be: 1) a registered voter; and 2) a resident of Layton City for at least 12 consecutive months prior to the election date.

Regular Council meetings are held on the first and third Thursday of each month beginning at 5:30 p.m.Council Members are expected to attend other meetings and functions as part of their duties and assignments. Candidates should be willing and able to spend the time required to represent the citizens of the City.

The general election will beheld on Tuesday, November 3. If sufficient candidates file, a primary election will be held on Tuesday, August 11.
