Layton Police to Participate In Operation Crosswalk

The Layton City Police Department, in conjunction with the Utah Highway Safety Office, will be participating in Operation Crosswalk Enforcement Friday, May 16, 2008 from 2 P.M. until 6 P.M. that evening. 


The purpose of this enforcement is to promote highway safety, and to educate the motoring public on crosswalk laws and safety.  Education is the main goal of the effort, however, citations will be issued when warranted. 


This is the first operation of this kind to be done in Layton City.  The police department received a grant from the Utah Highway Safety Office to fund this enforcement activity.  The location of this event will be 591 West Antelope Drive near Lincoln Elementary School.  The police department has planned other operations of this type in the coming months.


Members of the media are welcome to observe this operation.
