Layton Police Provide Disposal Site for Prescription Drugs

The Layton Police Department has received a grant from the Utah Department of Environmental Quality to provide the public with a disposal container for unwanted or expired prescription medications. The container is located in the lobby of the Police Department located at 429 North Wasatch Drive.

The prescription drug disposal program will allow citizens to properly dispose of unused medications. The program provides an environmentally safe alternative to disposing of medications in the landfill or sewer system, which may later negatively effect the environment.

The collection box is a steel container that is clearly marked as a disposal site for prescription drugs. Citizens may deposit medications into the container 24 hours per day, seven days a week. The disposal of these medications can be done anonymously.
