2009 Municipal Election for Mayor, 2 City Council seats

Elections for Layton City will be held this fall for Mayor and two City Council seats. The seats are "at-large," meaning they are open to candidates city-wide and are for four-year terms.

To become a candidate for one of these offices, a resident of the City must be a registered voter and file a "Declaration of Candidacy" at the City Recorder's Office between July 1 and July 15. Candidate forms will be available in the City Recorder's office or by e-mail beginning June 1. There is a $25 filing fee.

A primary election will be held Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009, if more than two candidates file for Mayor and/or more than four candidates file for City Council. The general election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009.
