Liberty Days parking restrictions and area closures
In anticipation of the annual 4th of July Liberty Days celebration, Layton City wants residents and visitors to be aware of some parking restrictions and area closures. Layton High School is having its parking lots repaired. Although unpaved, the east parking lot will be available for parking. The lot east of the LDS seminary is also available for parking. Parking in the west lot will not be allowed due to the construction. As in the past, there is no on street parking allowed along the parade route, and Wasatch Drive will be closed for parking the entire day. Carpooling is advised due to limited parking in the area.
The parade is scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m. No traffic will be allowed on Gentile between Fairfield Road and Talbot Drive from 9:00 a.m. to the conclusion of the parade. The entire parade route will be closed to vehicle traffic at approximately 10:00 a.m. Once the route is closed, no vehicles will be allowed to leave parking lots along the route until the parade is over.
The fireworks will start at approximately 10:00 p.m., and Wasatch Drive will be closed to all vehicle traffic at approximately 9:30 p.m. Once closed, vehicles will not be allowed onto Wasatch Drive until 30 minutes after the conclusion of the fireworks show.
As always, please be courteous of others. Do not improperly park in fire lanes or handicapped stalls and do not block driveways.
Police officers will be present throughout the day to answer questions and to provide assistance with traffic problems. If you have questions please contact Lt. Garret Atkin at 336-3454 or visit www.laytoncity.org.
