Road work update: Antelope Drive closed at Highway 89 June 22-26

Article Published 06/05/2015

Highway 89 at Antelope Drive will be closed, June 22-26, to allow room for trucks and equipment conducting paving work at US-89.
As a result, there will be no access to/from Antelope Drive at US-89 this weekend.

Hill Field Road work:
There is some utility work being done on Hill Field Road, between the Layton Hills Mall and 1000 West. Actual construction on this project begins June 14. The project also includes Main Street, near Hill Field Road.

Antelope Drive work:
-Crews are also still widening Antelope Drive, from University Park Boulevard to 2200 West. The final layer of pavement (Bonded Wearing Course) is scheduled to be applied beginning Monday, June 8.

Hobbs Creek extenstion:
On Monday and Tuesday, June 8-9, there will be lane restrictions on the new Hobbs Creek Extension and the new portion of Antelope Drive. Crews will be applying a seal coat, which is a relatively fast-paced operation, but it will be necessary to shift traffic. Two-way traffic will be maintained on Hobbs Creek and Antelope whenever possible, however some flagging operations will be needed.
The roundabout at Hobbs Creek and Sky View will be paved one-half at a time to allow local traffic to flow into and out of the neighborhood. There will be times when short delay will be unavoidable while equipment is moved and re-positioned.

U-193 work:
Work is moving forward on the repaving of SR-193, the Bernard Fisher Highway in Layton, from State Street (SR-126) to US-89. Crews are paving side streets and completing work at the intersection of South Gate Drive. Starting June 15, final paving will be conducted over a three night period.
South Gate Hill AFB work:
Construction at South Gate Drive and Balmer Road on Hill Air Force Base is continues through June 15. The project is adding an additional lane of traffic to the outbound side of the South Gate. During construction, there will be intermittent closures to one lane of traffic at the South Gate and South Gate Drive between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. In order to accommodate peak traffic during the lunch period, the Southwest Gate on 6th Street will be open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. during construction.
