Last year, Layton City Heritage Museum received a major donation of historical documents, newspapers, newspaper clippings and old publications from Lona Udy Parrish of Kaysville. For many years, Mrs. Parrish collected old documents which covered the history of Farmington, Kaysville, Layton and Davis County. She arranged these materials in 19 three-ring binders, which were given to the museum for students and researchers to view.

Of great value to the museum in this collection was a group of weekly and daily Utah newspapers with publication dates ranging from 1883 to 1970. Included in the collection: a newspaper announcing the death of LDS Church President Wilford Woodruff in 1897 and a paper reporting the assassination of President John F. Kennedy as well as multiple papers reporting the activities of World War I and World War II.

These papers are now on display for public view in the museum. The Heritage Museum is open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
