Hill Field Road work update; South Gate to Hill AFB to close for up to 8 weeks

Article Published 03/11/2016

Work continues on the new interchange on I-15 at Hill Field Road (SR-232) in Layton. Crews successfully moved the eastern new bridge over I-15 into place March 10.

All I-15 traffic is using the other new bridge, constructed immediately west of the existing travel lanes. That bridge will be moved into place during the middle of April.

Remember: Left turns off of I-15 are prohibited on Hill Field Road at I-15 through the end of July. Left turns from Hill Field Road to the I-15 on-ramps, however, are still allowed.

Drivers should watch for nightly traffic shifts and reduced lanes on Hill Field Road, immediately under I-15 and the off ramps. Nightly traffic shifts will take place now through July.

During this closure, HAFB commuters will use the Southwest Gate at 200 South, the West Gate at 650 North, the East Gate from Fairfield Road, and the Roy gate via 5600 South. Please plan ahead to adjust your daily commute.
