Article Published 08/22/2016

Work on the new I-15 interchange at Hill Field Road (SR-232) in Layton is nearing completion. Crews will be placing the final layer of pavement and striping across the entire project this week, beginning on I-15 on Monday, August 22, and extending through Thursday, August 25. Work will start SB at 10 p.m. with 2 lanes being closed, and an additional lane closing at 11 p.m. Paving will also occur on the surface streets on Friday, August 19 through Sunday, August 21, with nighttime work except for Sunday, which will be completed during the day.
With the conclusion of this work on Sunday, crews will open the new interchange to traffic on late Sunday night/early Monday morning.

-On the Hill Field Road paving project, from 1425 North to the Bernard Fisher Highway (SR-193), preparations for concrete placement are underway from 1900 North to 2800 North. Concrete placement will begin the evening of August 28. All concrete pours will take place during nighttime hours. It will take approximately two weeks to complete the concrete pours in this section. Traffic is currently shifted to the west side of the roadway and will remain in that configuration through October.
One travel lane in each direction will be maintained on SR-232 and at the Antelope Drive intersection for this work. Access to Northridge High School is being maintained with a one-way traffic flow — vehicles in to the school at the south, “B” entrance, and all vehicles leaving the school premises at 2475 North.  Residents with specific issues can call the project hotline at 801-859-3770 for assistance. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes, particularly if travel is time-sensitive.

-Repaving on side street tie-ins on SR-109 (Oak Hills Drive to East Gentile Street) will begin on Monday, August 22. Work will start on the west end of the project (Main Street/East Gentile Street) and will move east. Residents can expect crews in the area from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. During construction times traffic will be reduced by one lane. On East Gentile Street, between Main Street and 1350 East, traffic will be reduced to one lane open in each direction during construction. On Oak Hills Drive, between 1350 East and US-89, a pilot car will guide traffic in alternating directions during construction. Motorists should expect up to 15 minute delays during night work hours and may want to consider alternative route if their travel is time-sensitive.
