Article Published 05/15/2008

Layton - May 15, 2008

The Layton City Parks & Recreation department is sponsoring a contest to develop poster art, which will be used to help educate the general public about the health benefits of Surf'n Swim's new ultraviolet (UV) disinfecting system. The artwork will be used on posters at Layton City's Surf-n Swim, in advertisements, and in other promotional work.

We are interested in a single frame graphic cartoon, 24" x 36" that is either retro or modern, which depicts a new superhero (UV man/woman). UV man/woman kills unhealthy bacteria with his/her ultraviolet light gun. All interpretations of this concept will be considered.

Submissions will be judged on the following criteria:
  • The ability to communicate in a single frame the concept of a new disinfecting system that can greatly improve the health of our swimming pools water quality (100 points)
  • The ability to create visual excitement. (75 points)
  • Artistic quality of the work. (75 points)
  • Innovative approach to visual advertising. (50 points)

This competition is open to all students attending a Junior High or High School within Layton City. Interested students may pick up an entry form at the Parks and Recreation office located at 465 N Wasatch Dr, Layton, Utah 84041, or on our website.
