New single-family housing in Layton City 2nd highest-ever in 2013

Layton City experienced the “bottom of the curve” in housing development back in 2008 with only 93 new single-family units. However, that increased to 288 new single-family units in 2013 - the second highest year in residential development ever.
Another 44 permits were issued for new commercial developments in Layton last year.
In 2013 there was an additional $106.25 million total construction value added to the City, a slight increase from the previous year.
For the past decade (2003–2013), $788 million of construction value was completed within Layton. 
In the office and institutional sectors, along with the Weber State University’s 120,000-square-foot expansion, Masco Insulation Products started construction and Wolf Peak International, Inc. began construction on a 10,000-square-foot expansion.
There were 2,677 business licenses issued in Layton during 2013. Of that number, 334 were new licenses.
