ENFORCEMENT BEGINS FOR NEW AMENDMENTS TO THE DISTRACTED DRIVER LAW
On Tuesday May 13th, 2014, Layton Police Officers will begin enforcing the new amendments to the Distracted Driver code, which were passed in this year's Legislative Session in Senate Bill 253. These amendments were added to restrict the use of cellular telephones and other electronic devices while driving. While the media has already publicized this law, the Layton Police Department would like to remind citizens to familiarize themselves with details of the Distracted Driver Statue. Layton Officers will begin enforcing this law by actively stopping violators and using this time as an educational opportunity until the law is more widely recognized.
