Important public notice on water conservation

Article Published 06/01/2015

Dear Layton Resident or Business Owner:

Despite the recent rain our area has received, the region remains in a drought. Water storage levels are estimated at less than 50 percent this year. Outdoor watering for landscaping comprises 2/3rd of all water use in Layton City throughout the irrigation season.

Although Layton City has not imposed restrictions on outdoor water use, Layton City is strongly encouraging prudent and wise use of the water resources that we all share and utilize every day. One of the largest water wasting activities is the use of unmonitored automatic sprinkler systems. Although convenient, automatic sprinkler timers can waste water if allowed to irrigate during rain events, when sprinklers systems are broken, or when sprinklers are allowed to water the surrounding streets and concrete instead of the landscaping.>

Layton City strongly encourages the wise and prudent use of our water resources continually. A weekly watering guide is provided at www.slowtheflow.org as well as other helpful water conservation information and resources such as free water checks.
