Kendall O Bryant Fire Department Open House (FUN!)

05:00 PM to 08:00 PM

Firefighters will hold their annual Kendall O. Bryant Fire Prevention Open House on September 27th from 5-8 p.m. at Fire Station 51, 530 N. 2200 West. Firefighter Bryant had a passion for teaching fire prevention to kids. He was tragically killed on a house fire in 2000 while searching for a reported victim. The Open House, which attracts a crowd of over 3000, will feature events the entire family will enjoy. Attendees will witness structure fire simulations, see how thermal imaging cameras are used in searching for victims, and experience the effects of a simulated earthquake. The Layton Police Department will be handing out child identification kits. Children will enjoy putting out simulated fires, meeting Smokey Bear, and experience riding in a fire engine. There will be an opportunity to meet 911 emergency dispatchers and K-9 Cole and his handler, who are members of Utah Task Force 1 respond to disasters to search for victims. The event is free, however the Fire Department is requesting canned food donations for the Family Connection Center for fire engine rides. Food trucks at the event will be donating a portion of their proceeds to the Layton City Fire Corps safety education program.
