In September of 1992, Alex R. Jensen was appointed City Manager of Layton at the age of twenty-nine. As City Manager, he is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and administration of eight City departments.
From February 1991 to September 1992, Alex worked as the Assistant City Manager of Layton City. Before coming to Layton, he spent approximately three years with the City of Las Vegas, Nevada in various positions. At the time he left the City of Las Vegas, Alex was the Senior Analyst in the City Manager's Office. Alex also has work experience with Provo City. He worked almost full-time for Provo City while earning his graduate degree.
Alex has a Bachelors Degree in Political Science and a Masters Degree in Public Administration. Both degrees are from Brigham Young University. He is a member of the International City Management Association (ICMA). He has served as president of the Utah City Manager's Association (UCMA), Chairman of the Board of the Utah Risk Management Mutual Association (URMMA), and Chairman of the Board of UTOPIA.
Alex is originally from Mesquite, Nevada. He and his wife are the parents of five children.
