Redevelopment Agency
Over the past few decades, Layton City has experienced tremendous growth. As with
any growing city, some areas of Layton have not had the economic success that has
been typical for the city as a whole. The Layton City Redevelopment Agency was
formed in 2002 to provide funding for redevelopment projects in depressed areas.
The Redevelopment Agency was established according to Utah State Law and uses Tax
Increment Financing for redevelopment projects. The Redevelopment Project Area is
located along “Old” Main Street along with parts of Fort Lane. The
Project Area has several developments that are currently finished or underway.
The Layton Commuter Rail stop will be located in this area, along with the proposed
South Main Interchange. Several businesses have also established themselves in this
area. With these initiatives the Project Area is poised to become a center for
economic activity in Layton City.
