Welcome to Economic Development
Layton Economy
The Layton City economy offers businesses the flexibility needed to grow at their distinctive rates. Layton boasts well-planned industrial areas, unparalleled retail centers, accessible office space and a border with Hill Air Force Base. Our greatest feature, land to grow on. The City also has a sturdy, well-educated and diverse work force that will fit the many needs of any business. Layton City is not a boomtown hoping to capitalize on the next big trend. Rather, Layton City will continue to carry on its tradition of stability and sustained growth, which has made the community a leader in Utah’s economy.
Commuity Development Block Grant
Layton City is an Entitlement Grantee of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG).
This grant is provided by the Federal Government to assist jurisdictions in funding
a broad range of programs. Layton City has used CDBG money to assist youth programs,
support homeless programs, and improve infrastructure. The grant is annually awarded
with each program year lasting 12 calendar months. The Layton City program year
starts on July 1st and ends on June 30th of the following year. Organizations
interested in receiving CDBG money from Layton City may submit an application to the
City for funding consideration. The application deadline is set yearly but typically
ends in the February prior to the start of the program year. The Layton City CDBG
Administrator is available to answer any questions concerning the grant.
