Doug Bitton

Biography

Once a small residential community, Layton is now the retail and business hub of northern Utah. These business need to be inspected to guarantee that they meet fire and life safety code requirements on a regular basis. Doug is full time in the Fire Prevention office. He spends the majority of his day conducting inspections at newly opening business, offices, and home daycare locations. He is also responsible to conduct annual inspections on some of the more complex business in the city, such as Smith’s Warehouse. Doug gathers important fire related information about the business and gets that information to the department members. Doug checks for blocked exits, improperly stored flammables/combustibles, fire extinguishers, sprinkler and standpipe service records, and that storage doesn’t hamper sprinkler fire flows.
