The Sounds of Freedom will fill Layton’s Commons Park on Saturday, June 21, with everything from classic cars to flying aircraft.
This annual event is designed to show support for the military and features a variety of family-friendly activities, live music and a JC Hackett car show, according to organizer L.T. Weese of Layton, who said the celebration has grown each year since he began staging it in 2002.
This year the event will also take time to honor the late Mayor Steve Curtis of Layton and dedicate a monument in his name to the city of Layton.
“Steve was an amazing supporter of all branches of the military and he truly loved spending the day at the park during Sounds of Freedom,” said L.T. Weese.
About 300 cars will participate in the car show. Other activities include motorcycle rally, face painting, children's games, live music, and vendors selling food, clothing and other items.
The Sounds of Freedom runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the park, 465 Wasatch Drive. A flag ceremony will be at noon with an aerial flyover featuring World War II aircraft.
