||Media Open House for Smart911 Implementation|
||Layton Police Department and Communications Center|
|DATE AND TIME:
||Wednesday, October 23, 2013 from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.|
Layton City Public Safety Officials are proud to announce that Layton is the first in Utah to enhance emergency response to citizens with Smart911. Smart911 is a service that allows residents to create a “Safety Profile” to include anyone in their household, at no cost to the resident. This profile can be associated with multiple phone numbers. If anyone calls 911 from the associated phone numbers, the “Safety Profile” information provided by the citizen is displayed on the 911 call taker's screen. The dispatcher can quickly facilitate the proper response to the proper location, even if the caller is unable to speak. Smart911 saves seconds, and seconds can save lives.
This program benefits many key groups within our community including families with children; elderly and seniors; victims of domestic violence; those who are deaf, hard of hearing, or blind; families with autistic members; those with physical or developmental disabilities; people with allergies or other medical conditions; and pet owners.
Layton Public Safety Officials, City Administrators and Council members, Davis County Health Department, Safe Harbor Women’s Shelter, and members of the community will be available for comments during the open house. The Layton Communications Center will also be open to the media for pictures and Smart911 demonstrations.
We are proud to be the first in Utah to offer Smart911. We would be honored if you would join us during this open house.
Please contact Lt. Shawn Horton at 801-336-3440 for questions.
