Senior Programming

The Davis County Health Department, from the beginning, has strived to ensure quality public and environmental health in Davis County and the communities and cities within the County. As public health professionals, their mission is to assure the conditions in which people live are healthy.

More than 135 employees serve county residents through three divisions within the department: Environmental Health Services, Family and Community Health Services, and the Health Administration Services Office.

A very significant program within the department is the Family Health & Senior Services Division. This County function provides services to citizens throughout their life spans, and families can receive personal health services in a variety of prevention programs. The division offers an array of programs that assist seniors in remaining active and healthy.

In Davis County, there are three Senior Activity Centers for programs, enrichment and care.

The purposes of these County-directed senior centers are as myriad as they are practical and beneficial. Life-enriching and health conscious objectives and goals include:

* Meeting new friends

* Developing new interests, or pursuing a new hobby

* Being a source of information, community education, advocacy opportunities

* Providing a warm and friendly gathering place for seniors to join other active, mature adults in educational classes, crafts, exercise, daily lunch programs, and much more.

To be eligible for programs at the three Davis County senior activity centers, you must be 60 years of age or older, or the spouse of someone 60 years of age or older.
