MARCH LOST INDUSTRIES CANCELLED - Centennial Lecture Series - Hosted by The Heritage Museum of Layton

07:00 PM to 08:30 PM

UPDATE - After a great deal of thought and counsel with local emergency managers and Staff, Layton City’s Mayor and Council have provided the following guidance for public gatherings. In coordination with Governor Herbert’s recommendation to discontinue public gatherings of 100 or more people, and with an abundance of care for our resident’s health and wellbeing the March 17, 2020 Centennial Lecture Series is cancelled as of March 16, 2020. If you have questions or concerns contact the Parks and Recreation office 801-336-3900. We will re-evaluate the remaining lecture series as time gets closer.

This Month’s Topic
Lost Industries
Before Layton became a city there were several industries that contributed to the growth of the region. At one time, there were four flour mills processing the various grains grown in the region. There were also three canning companies who processed corn, peas, beans, and tomatoes for consumption throughout the Western United States. None of these industries exist today. This lecture will explore how these ‘lost industries’ contributed to the Layton of the past.
