CANCELLED - Centennial Lecture Series Hosted by The Heritage Museum of Layton

UPDATE - After a great deal of thought and counsel with local emergency managers and Staff, Layton City’s Mayor and Council have provided the following guidance for public gatherings. In coordination with Governor Herbert’s recommendation to discontinue public gatherings, and with an abundance of care for our resident’s health and wellbeing the April 21, 2020 Centennial Lecture Series is cancelled as of March 30, 2020. If you have questions or concerns contact the Parks and Recreation office 801-336-3900. We will re-evaluate the remaining lecture series as time gets closer.


Join the Heritage Museum of Layton for the ‘Centennial Lecture Series’. Each lecture will highlight a different subject and explore how it helped shape Layton City into the vibrant, thriving municipality it is today. Lecture series are free to attend. Each lecture begins at 7:00pm and will be held in the City Council Chambers of the Layton City Administration Building (437 North Wasatch Drive, Layton). This Month’s Topic
Layton Sugar Company
In 1915, the Layton Sugar Company processing factory was opened. This facility produced refined sugar made from sugar beets. At one time, the Layton Sugar Company was the largest employer in Davis County. Local farmers raised the beets and local residents processed those beets into sugar. Mountain Brand Sugar, produced by the Layton Sugar Company, was sold in stores as far away as California and Montana.
