Tom Cavanaugh - Council Candidate

I am Tom Cavanaugh. My wife and I have been married for over 30 years. We have four children and nine grandchildren. Two of my sons and their families are Layton residents.

I am a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and have over 35 years of experience in public safety.

I understand the importance of saving taxpayer money. As a 9-1-1 director, I significantly reduced expenses for the 9-1-1 Center (PSAP). I managed a consolidation of three PSAPS reducing expenses and saved over $100,000 of the city's budget within my first three months on the job. The PSAP Consolidation improved the city's ISO rating. The ISO rating impacts what residents pay for homeowners insurance. Through better employee utilization, I reduced overtime by over $50,000 per year.

I have testified before state legislatures and city councils to protect the rights of property owners and improve the 9-1-1 services.

Some of my priorities include protecting the rights of property owners, veterans, children, the safety of Layton citizens and our first responders.

Together we can ensure that Layton continues to be the place of choice to live, play, work and raise a family.
