Caring through community. It’s a nice catch-phrase, but in reality, it may be one of the most important things for someone who has ever gone through the darkness of being a victim of crime.

Layton City is fortunate to have a lower crime rate than some of its neighboring cities, but it is a fact that crime does occur here. Many crimes, including domestic violence, stalking, theft and assaults leave victims wondering where to turn to for help.

Look no further than the City’s Victim Services Program, which offers assistance to Layton residents who become victims of crime.

Victim Services is located in the City Attorney’s office (437 North Wasatch Drive, Layton), and offers services such as: providing assistance in seeking restitution; helping a victim to understand the criminal justice system; help with accessing community resources; providing victims with updated court information; or providing assistance in applying for financial resources for crime-related counseling and medical costs.

The City program can also assist victims of domestic violence or stalking with applying for protective orders or stalking injunctions. There is no cost for assistance provided by the Victim Services Program.

All information discussed with Victim Services is confidential, with the exception of state law mandated reporting of child abuse or elder abuse. Our mission is to treat each victim and family member as an individual; to always remember that each case is unique and special; and to involve victims and the community in a restorative process that helps diminish the devastating impact of crime.

If you or someone you know is a victim of crime and could benefit from the Layton City Victim Services Program, please contact Karen Arroyo at (801) 336-3599. Additionally, volunteer staff members are needed. If you have extra time and would like to volunteer with this program, please contact Karen Arroyo at (801) 336-3599.
