Winter Parking Ordinance to be Enforced in Layton

Article Published 12/03/2007

Layton- With the first major snow storm arriving over the weekend, Layton Police are reminding the public not to park their vehicles on the street.  Layton’s municipal code states that it is illegal for vehicles to be parked on the roadway from 1:00 A.M. until 6:00 A.M. during the months of December, January, and February or anytime that snow removal is apparent or imminent.

Layton Police have been issuing courtesy notices to the owners of vehicles that have been parked on the street during the prohibited times.  The courtesy notices are reminders to the public that they must change their parking habits and find alternative parking places.

The Layton Police will begin to issue parking citations to those vehicles parked in violation of the snow removal ordinance.   The police department is asking for the public’s cooperation with this effort.
