Snow Removal, Winter Parking Reminders

With the winter season approaching the Layton City Police Department would like to provide you with information regarding city ordinances that govern snow removal.  Compliance to these ordinances provides a safer environment for motorists and pedestrians and aids city workers with snow removal on city streets.

  • Layton City Snow Removal Ordinance 12.04.050 states all accumulations of snow, sleet, hail or other precipitation shall be removed from the sidewalks within twelve hours from the termination of the storm.
  • Layton City Snow Removal Ordinance 12.04.060 states it is unlawful to remove snow from a driveway or sidewalk and deposit it onto the city street.
  • Layton City Parking Ordinance 10.62.010 prohibits parking on the street between the hours of 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. during the months of December, January and February, or any other time when the removal of snow from the streets is apparent, imminent or necessary.
  • Layton City Ordinance 19.16.080(d) states trees and bushes need to be trimmed to a height of 7' above the sidewalk and 13'6“ above the street.  This includes trees and/or bushes in the parking strip.
