Road work update: Nighttime paving begins on U-193

Article Published 05/15/2017
On the Hill Field Road (SR-232) project, northbound and southbound travel will remain reduced to one lane in each direction from Antelope Drive to approximately 1225 North to allow crews to finish grinding the newly placed asphalt. Crews are replacing the concrete panels that were damaged from SR-193 to 2800 North. During this work, there will be single lane closures through May to allow the concrete to cure.
Residents with specific issues can call the project hotline at 801-859-3770 for assistance. To stay up-to-date on construction activities email, or visit the project website
-Crews are installing signal upgrades to the traffic signal on SR-109 at Gentile Street and Fairfield Rd, Layton. Crews have finished all of the underground work and are now working on power connections. Lanes may be closed or restricted in the immediate area of work. Slow down and be prepared to stop at any time.
-Work continues on a project to resurface SR-193, the Bernard Fisher Highway, from Hill Field Road (SR-232) to US-89. Nighttime paving operations will begin on Monday, May 15, at 7 p.m., starting in the outside lane at Hill Field Road and continue east to US-89.
When crews reach US-89, the moving operation will change directions and continue west in the outside line. This pattern will continue until the paving operations are complete in mid-July. Eastbound work activities will end each day by 7 a.m., and westbound by 10 a.m.
Residents should expect increased noise and vibration during work hours, construction vehicles entering and exiting the roadway, temporary lane shifts and lane and shoulder restrictions.
