Brian Godfrey

Brian Godfrey lives in Layton, UT. He attended kindergarten and first grade at Hilltop Elementary in Layton. Raised by Phillip and Paula Godfrey, he grew up with his Father serving in the USAF. The family transferred, through the USAF, to Blytheville, Arkansas for two years, and then to Barksdale AFB, Louisiana for four years. This gave him the opportunity to see and experience how other city governments functioned, and how the people in those communities were affected by decisions made by council members. His Father was transferred back to Hill AFB. Brian then attended all three years at Layton High School where he played football and baseball. He graduated from Layton High School in 1989.

His first employer was Layton City, where he umpired youth baseball games and refereed youth basketball games.

Brian is an Eagle Scout.

Brian served in the United States Navy Reserves. He is member of the American Legion. He has an Associate in Applied Sciences Degree in Electronics Computer Technology.

Brian moved to Garland, Texas in 1995 where he successfully managed several Pizza Hut stores. Brian has worked the last 15 years in the Telecommunications Industry. He started in Dallas, TX, in 2000 with Southwestern Bell. He always wanted to return to Utah, so he started working his way North and West. In 2005, he transferred to Duncan, Oklahoma. In 2012, he transferred to Elk City, Oklahoma. In 2013, he changed companies and moved to Rangely, Colorado, with his current employer CenturyLink. In 2014, an opportunity came for Brian to return home and he transferred to Layton, UT.

Brian is married to Melanie Christensen (LHS 1989). Together they have blended a family with six children.

Brian has never held a political office. He enjoys volunteering. He has been a longtime volunteer with The Boy Scouts of America and volunteers as a coach for his children’s youth sports teams. He is seeking a position on Layton City’s Council because is proud of his hometown and wants to serve the citizens of Layton.
