Fire Academy
Purpose
Firefighting is a dangerous activity that can result in serious injury or death. Each recruit assumes the responsibility of participating in the activity of firefighting, and attends this academy with a full understanding of the associated risks. The training ground has many controlled situations where lessons are learned and skills are practiced. Training may occur with live fire, and in hazardous environments where all elements of risk cannot be removed. This is a time of intense learning and formation of safe practices that will carry the firefighter through their career. The mission of the recruit academy is to prepare you for a long and safe career as a valuable asset to a fire department.
