3302 - Part-Time Employee Compensation

Part-Time Regular Employee Compensation

Part-time regular positions will be assigned an hourly wage range which may be adjusted from time-to-time. Employees who are hired in part-time regular positions, regardless of whether they have worked for Layton City previously, will start at the beginning of the range for those positions unless otherwise approved by the City Manager..

Part-time regular employees who work continuously for the City should receive annual performance evaluations and may receive merit pay increases within their range based upon their performance. Part-time regular employees receive the same merit increase opportunities as full-time regular employees to move through their specific range. (See Policy 3701).

Temporary Employee Compensation

Temporary positions will be assigned an hourly wage range which may be adjusted from time to time. Employees who are hired in temporary positions for the first time will start at the beginning of the range. Each year a temporary employee is re-employed by the City, the Department Director may approve up to a 25 cent per hour increase, within the range, depending on that employee's performance during the prior year. Temporary employees are not otherwise eligible for merit increases.
