Mayor, two City Council seats open this year

Elections for Layton City will be held this fall for Mayor and two City Council seats.  The seats are “at-large,” meaning they are open to candidates city-wide and are for four-year terms.

To become a candidate, a resident of the city must be a registered voter, reside in the city at least 12 consecutive months prior to the election, and file a “Declaration of Candidacy” at the City Recorder’s office between June 3-7.  Candidate forms will be available in the City Recorder’s office beginning May 15.  There is a $25 filing fee.

If a primary election is necessary, it will be held Tuesday, August 13. The general election will be held Tuesday, November 5.  New residents may register to vote at the County Clerk’s office in Farmington or online at
