Road work update: Hill Field Road closed overnight, Sept. 28-30

Article Published 09/25/2015

Work is continuing on improvements in the vicinity of I-15 and Hill Field Road (SR-232).
Crews will close Hill Field Road between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., on Monday, September 28 to Wednesday, Sept. 30, to place the horizontal beams of the new bridges overhead the steel columns that were recently installed at the interchange. The on and off ramps of I-15 will remain open, however east/west traffic wishing to cross under I-15 will be detoured to areas north and south of the interchange. Those wishing to travel east and west through Layton should use Antelope Drive (SR-108) or the Layton Parkway as alternate E/W routes.
Median curbing is being placed on Hill Field Road near the new ThrU-Turn, now open by McDonald’s restaurant, to delineate the new traffic configuration. This work will be accomplished during night time shifts. The operation to remove the old asphalt and apply new asphalt will continue through the rest of the week and is expected to be completed on Friday, Oct. 2.
Various concrete work remains to complete the sidewalk and pedestrian ramps along Hill Field and Main Street. The area east of I-15, on the south side of the street, cannot presently accommodate pedestrians. Those wishing to travel through along Hill Field Road should cross to the north/west side of the street at 1225 North. Crews will begin landscape restoration and clean up items on the east side of the street next week.
