Commission Members Needed

Layton City is looking for individuals interested in serving on either the new RAMP Advisory Commission or the Parks and Recreation Commission. Becoming a commission member is a great way for residents to be involved in their local government as well as help make a difference within their community. Information about each commission and how to apply is explained below. RAMP Advisory Commission
Layton City is now accepting applications for appointed members of the City's RAMP Advisory Commission. The RAMP (Recreation, Arts, Museum, and Parks) Advisory Commission is an advisory board to the City Council. This Commission shall function as a planning and advisory body for the City Council in all matters pertaining to the expenditure of RAMP Tax Revenue. The RAMP Advisory Commission shall consist of nine members with four standing members and five at large members.
Appointed RAMP Advisory Commission members will meet regularly to advertise for, collect, and review Grant Applications. These applications are to fund City owned Recreation, Arts, Museum, and Parks facilities and improvements to existing facilities. Grants will also fund Recreation, Art, Museum, and Park programs that benefit the residents of Layton and are developed by public or private non-profit organizations, as such terms are defined in State law.
Once the RAMP Advisory Commission has reviewed all applications the RAMP Advisory Commissions shall prioritize all grant applications and make a yearly recommendation to the City Council for the expenditure of all RAMP Funds as outlined in the RAMP Advisory Commission's Bylaws.
Appointed RAMP Advisory Commission members shall serve up to three (3) terms. Each term of office shall be up to two (2) years. RAMP Advisory Commission members are appointed by the Mayor after counsel with and consent of the City Council.
Those interested in serving on the RAMP Advisory Commission should complete the Layton City's RAMP Advisory Committee Member Application. Applications should be submitted no later than January 18, 2016.
Parks and Recreation Commission
Layton City is now accepting applications for appointed members of the City's Parks and Recreation Commission. The Parks and Recreation Commission is an advisory board to the City Council. The Commission members serve as advisors to the City on Parks and Recreation programs and projects. The Commission members also play a major role in the planning and running of the Liberty Days Celebration held on July 4 each year.
Appointed Commission members will meet regularly with members of the Parks and Recreation Department to stay informed on upcoming programs and projects as well as provide feedback to the Department and City Council. Parks and Recreation meetings are held on the first Monday of each month at 5:00 pm. Appointed Parks and Recreation Commission Members shall serve up to three (3) terms. Each term of office shall be up to three (3) years. Parks and Recreation Commission members are appointed by the Mayor after counsel with and consent of the City Council.
