I-15 at Hill Field Road changes now in progress

Article Published 02/16/2016

The Hill Field Road Improvement Project has resumed construction.

In an effort to keep Utah moving, the contractor has developed a phasing plan that eliminates any permanent closures of freeway traffic while constructing the new interchange.

Over the next two weeks:

1. Lane will shift on I-15.

2. There will be a night time weekend closure on I-15 for the existing bridge removal.

3. There will be an adjustment to freeway exit patterns.

Lane shifts on I-15 (February 16-17)

During the night time work hours on both Tuesday and Wednesday, February 16 and 17, crews will shift all I-15 traffic to the new bridge, constructed immediately west of the existing travel lanes. The new bridge will carry three lanes in each direction while crews remove the existing bridges, slide the northbound bridge into place, and make the proper connections to the freeway and Hill Field Road below it.

The traffic shift to the new bridge will take place over the course of two night time shifts. The lane shift will be well marked with advanced notification; however drivers should be alert and aware of the brief change in their driving pattern.

Additionally, all vehicles from the northbound and southbound off ramps will be required to exit to the right and go through the ThrU-Turns. Left turns under I-15 will not be permitted, so follow the signs carefully.
