Flood Insurance Rate Map Appeal Notice

Article Published 08/05/2020

Dear Property Owner,

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in cooperation with the State of Utah Division of Emergency Management, are in the process of updating the Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) for Davis County. In conjunction with this effort, FEMA developed a revised floodplain in select areas within Davis County. The revised maps may impact your property. If the structure on your property is found to be located within the 1-percent-annual-chance floodplain you may be required to purchase flood insurance.

FEMA will provide community officials and citizens an opportunity to appeal the proposed flood hazard information presented on the preliminary revised FIRM. The 90-day appeal period will begin on August 7, 2020. During the 90-day appeal period, any owner or lessee of property in Layton City with the possession of knowledge or information indicating that the proposed flood hazard determinations are scientifically or technically incorrect may appeal.

Appeals can be submitted to the Engineering Department by calling (801) 336-3700.

To view the changes electronically, the preliminary map data has been placed on FEMA's Map Change Viewer: https://fema.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=e7a7dc3ebd7f4ad39bb8e485bb64ce44.

Please visit https://www.floodmaps.fema.gov/fhm/BFE_Status/bfe_main.asp for further appeal information.

Thank You,
