Management Services Department
The Management Services Department oversees the functions of the Human Resources Division, the Risk Management Division, the Emergency Management Operation, and the public relations aspect of the City's communication efforts.
With the objective of keeping this a great place to work, the Human Resources Division prides itself in ensuring the City's departments have the most current information for their respective decision-making responsibilities, and that it is a ready resource for our employees regarding employment and benefit information. Additionally, this Division is responsible for the development and implementation of personnel policies, coordination of the recruiting and hiring process, employment benefits administration, development and support of incentive and awards programs, coordination of performance evaluations, compensation management, facilitation of the City's wellness program, development and maintenance of equal employment opportuninty plans, and ensuring compliance with state and federal personnel regulations.
The Risk Management Division takes a proactive and preventative approach to the innumerable risks inherent in providing public services. It does this through evaluationg practices and policies, training, education, and programs proven to reduce risk. This Division is responsible for the acquisition of liability and property insurance coverage for the City, which involves working with commercial insurance carriers and the Utah Risk Management Agency (URMA). This Division coordinates several safety inspections throughout the workplace, ensuring a safe environment. The Division handles and coordinates the claims against the City, including investigating incidents and corresponding with claimants. The Division oversees the City's Claims Committee and Accident Review Board.
With the objective of having a well-informed citizenry and work force, the Department is responsible for the City's social media content and its internal memoranda, and ensuring those contain timely and accurate information. To coordinate those efforts, a Communication Committee was created and is managed by this Department. This Department handles requests from the news and other media outlets for interviews and information, as the Department houses the City's public information officer.
