Recreation T-Ball program is for Pre-K boys (must be 4 years old by May 1, of the current year), or boys currently in Kindergarten. Recreation Machine Pitch baseball program is for boys currently in 1st grade (with one year of coach pitch) and 2nd grade boys. We recommend this division for advanced 1st grade boys that have played a prior season of coach pitch baseball and 2nd grade boys. The purpose of the Machine Pitch league is for participants to build on skills developed in Coach Pitch and continue to learn basic fundamental baseball skills, teamwork, exercise, socialize with other children, and have fun. Participants in 1st grade who intend on playing machine pitch should be able to throw accurately, play catch, field ground balls routinely, and hit off of a pitching machine. The pitching machine in this league will be set between 35 to 38 feet from home plate and pitches will be traveling from 35 to 38 MPH. Registered participants are placed on teams as closely as possible, by their school boundaries. Layton City Recreation will have open try-outs for the All-Star program on Saturday, June 4th at Ellison Park. The All-Star teams will be announced on our www.quickscores.com/laytoncity website on Wednesday, June 8th. Players must be present at the All-Star try-outs to be considered for placement on an All-Star team. We will have 2-4 All-Star teams from the Machine Pitch division (exact number TBD). Each team will have 12 total players. Unfortunately, not everyone who tries out will be selected. All-Star teams will be selected by the All-Star coaches in that division. Only players that registered for our regular season Layton City 2022 machine pitch leagues can try-out for All-Star teams. The K-3rd Grade Jr Jazz program is an instructional basketball program for boys in kindergarten through 3rd grade. Program registration includes reversible jersey and Utah Jazz game ticket. Kindergarten and 1st grade play a clinic style program with 30 minute practice followed by 30 minute game on Saturdays. The 2nd and 3rd grade leagues include a mid-week practice and Saturday game. Ball size is 28.5 (women’s). Games are played at Legacy Jr High or Central Davis Jr High. Registered participants are placed on teams according to the school they attend whenever possible. Carpool, friend, and coach requests will not be honored. Volunteer coaches are needed.

The Layton City Youth Cross Country program is a fitness program for youth interested in and excited about running. The Cross Country program is designed to introduce youth 9-18 years old to cross country and distance running in a fun, safe and controlled environment. A typical training session will include general introduction, overview of cross-country principles, warm-up, stretching, group run and exercises, followed by a cool down period.

The Fit Kids program is designed to get youth into having fun while getting physically fit. Recreation flag football program for boys and girls Kindergarten through 9th Grade. Registration includes team jersey and flag belt. Beginning gymnastics is a four week class for boys and girls ages 5 years and older. Classes are held on Saturday mornings at 9:00am at North Davis Gymnastics. Participants learn the fundamentals of tumbling, handstands, cartwheels, and back handsprings in a controlled and safe environment.

Nightly scores will be averaged for standings, with final league rankings made at the end of the session. Participants are expected to bring their own paddles. The scheduled time is set only for league play. There are no lessons or practice time provided during the course of this league session.

Spock’s Skate Camp is for boys and girls 6-14 years old. All skill levels are welcome. Program focuses on skatepark etiquette and safety as well as learning fundamental skateboard skills in a controlled and safe environment. Must provide own skateboard. Helmet, elbow, and knee pads are required. Classes are held on Wednesdays from 9:00am – 11:00am. Sessions are available in June, July, and August.

Tackle football program for boys and girls grades 2nd - 9th (2022/2023 school year). Layton City is a member of the Wasatch Front Football League (WFFL) and follows all WFFL league rules and bylaws (www.wffl.com). ***NEW FOR 2022 - A & B Level Divisions.*** Practices will begin on Monday, August 1st (subject to change). Practices are one and half hours a night, five days a week. Games begin mid-August. Games are played on Saturdays at locations along the Wasatch Front from Preston, Idaho to Kaysville. After games begin, practices are limited to one and half hours a night, four days a week. For the Jr Mite Division (2nd/3rd grade) practices are limited to 3 total hours per week after games begin. Program consists of eight (8) league games and playoffs for qualifying teams. The youngest division (Jr Mite) does not participate in playoffs. A level TRYOUTS (optional) will be held June 16th - 30th (exact date(s) to be determined by coaching staff). B level participants are drafted onto teams by coaches during the first week of practice. Carpool, friend, and coach requests will not be honored. Participation Requirements 1. Documents are NOT accepted at equipment check-out.*** CONTINUE FROM 2021 – Layton High Sub-Association and Northridge High Sub-Association Layton WFFL Tackle Football will be divided into two sub-associations; Layton High Sub-Association and Northridge High Sub-Association. Players will register for the sub-association based on their current residential high school boundary. In cases where participation numbers are too low, sub-associations may be combined to form a full team roster. NEW FOR 2022: Mitey Mite Division (grade 4) will play 11 versus 11. The Mitey Mite Division will have playoffs for qualifying teams. Jr. Mite Beginning with the 2019 season the WFFL has adopted the USA Football Modified Tackle Football rules for the Jr Mite Division (2nd/3rd grade) • Jr Mite Division will play 8 versus 8 on a smaller modified field • Each team will have a maximum four (4) coaches • Teams will have a maximum of 16 players • Game times will be 1 hour in length • After games begin, practice is limited to 3 hours per week
