The National Weather Service and UDOT's meteorologists are expecting some rather large winds through the state tonight.

UDOT has just issued a travel warning in the following news release:

UDOT is issuing a travel warning due to high winds and snow expected Monday evening through Tuesday morning in parts of Utah.

Extreme wind conditions are expected along Interstate 15 from Bountiful to Tremonton, on U.S. Highway 6 between Price and Green River, and U.S. Highway 40 from Vernal to the Colorado border from around 8 p.m. Monday through 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The hardest hit areas are expected to be Centerville, Farmington and Kaysville, with wind gusts possibly reaching 70 to 90 mph between midnight and 4 a.m.

UDOT also expects I-80 in the West Desert to see 40-55 mph wind gusts from 4 p.m. through midnight. Wind gusts exceeding 45 mph may pose a danger to high profile vehicles (semis, trailers and RVs).

Heavy road snow is also expected in the eastern mountains and on I-15 from Scipio to Cedar City. UDOT recommends motorists limit travel along these routes through Tuesday morning.
