Pioneer Day Events - July 24th


After a great deal of thought and counsel with local emergency managers and staff, Layton City’s Mayor and Council have provided the following guidance for upcoming Layton City summer events:

In coordination with the state and local public health official’s phased health guidelines and the Utah Leads Together 2.0 recommendations, and exercising an abundance of care for our residents’ health and well-being, the following Layton City celebration events have been cancelled, effective May 1, 2020.

  • Layton City Centennial Birthday Party Under the Stars (June 5-6, 2020)
  • Layton City Liberty Days (July 4, 2020)
  • Pioneer Day Activities (July 24, 2020)
    • Taste of the Town
    • Riders in the Sky Concert
    • Electric Light Parade

4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Taste of the Town

Come sample some of Davis County's fabulous fare! This is a family friendly and affordable way to taste your way around favorite local restaurants in a festive outdoor setting.

  • Location: Layton Commons Park
  • Cost: Free Admission, $1 food tickets

7:00 PM - 9:00 PM Riders in the Sky

This is the Grammy award winning band that brings us the Cowboy Way, Woody's Roundup, and Monsters Inc. Pull up a chair for the entire family to enjoy the greatest cowboy music in the world. Seats fill up fast and are available on a first come first serve basis.

  • Gates open at 6 PM
  • Location: Ed Kenley Centennial Amphitheater, 403 North Wasatch Drive
  • Cost: FREE

9:30-9:50 PM Electric Light Parade Staging

Come join in the fun! Decorate yourself, bike, scooter, stroller, etc. for the annual Electric Light Parade. Anyone can participate! All parade entries must be lit, non-motorized and family friendly.

No pre-registration required. Groups of 10 people or more will check in during the staging period to determine the order of the parade. Groups with less than 10 people can enter the parade at any time after the parade starts.

  • Location: In the business parking lot at teh NorthWest corner of Wasatch Dr. and Gentile Street.
  • Cost: FREE


Line the street to watch the Electric Light Parade go by. Join the end of the parade to go to the party zone!

  • Location: Parade will follow Wasatch Dr. north to Constitution Circle, where the PARTY ZONE will be located.
  • Cost: FREE

10:30 PM - 11:45 PM Electric Light Parade Party begins

DJ playing popular music, dancing, black lights, and food

  • Cost: FREE
