Article Published 10/08/2009

LAYTON MAIN STREET BAND SEEKING NEW MEMBERS

The Layton City Main St. Band is resuming its fall schedule with the first rehearsal on Tuesday, October 6, 2009.  Under the direction of Mr. Richard Heath the band practices on Tuesday nights from 6:45 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. in the music room at Central Davis Junior High.  The first performance will be on November 11 at the Veteran’s Day Program in the new gym at Central Davis Junior High.

A traditional concert band, the group plays marches and popular compositions.  Residents from anywhere in the area are invited to participate.  Along with some very accomplished musicians in the group are some younger students and some who are returning to playing with an organized musical group.

The calendar of performances for the year includes a Christmas performance; a pops concert in March; a performance combined with the Layton High and Northridge High bands; the Layton City Parade on July 4; and an old fashioned Concert in the Park in July.

Interested musicians may attend any of the rehearsals on Tuesdays at 6:45 P.M. or call Mr. Heath at 801 544 5922 or Michelle Howard with Layton City Recreation at 801 336 3924 (e-mail mlhoward@laytoncity.org).
