Join the Heritage Museum for a Historic Layton Chalk Art Contest! Registration will be available on the city website beginning July 12!

Date: Monday, July 24th, 2023
Check-In: 6:30-7:00am
Drawing Time: 7am-Noon. Judging will begin at noon.
Location: Heritage Museum of Layton, Cabin Plaza (403 N. Wasatch Drive)
Entry Fee: $15 (Fee will be waived for participants under 12 years old)
Awards: Announced at 12:30pm. Awards will be given to the first place winner in each category.
Registration: July 12th through July 21st.

Provided at Check-In: A basic set of sidewalk chalk and hand wipes. Artists are encourage to bring their own chalk to add vibrancy, depth and variety. Artists may also bring their own brushes, water, and any other materials or tools they need. All chalk must be water based and temporary (no paint, fixatives, or oil-based products).

Rules:
Participants must check in before starting. Squares vary between 5’x5’ and 6’x6.75’. Artists can choose their squares on a first come/first serve basis.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own seating, water, and shade.
Artwork MUST incorporated the theme: “Leading the Way.” The word “Pioneer” can be used to signify one who is the first to do something or who paves the way for others to follow. This year for Pioneer Day, we are celebrating both the Pioneers of the past, and those who lead the way forward today.
This is a family event. Artwork containing nudity, profanity, political messaging, or advertisements are not permitted. Content deemed inappropriate will be removed and the artist disqualified.
