SYSTEM UPDATE NOTICE [OCT 2, 2023]
We are pleased to announce that our business license application system, including business license renewals, has been updated as of October 2nd, 2023.
This new system will streamline the application and renewal process. The system will allow a business license applicant to easily follow up on the approval process,
quickly communicate with the City, and conveniently provide or upload any required information to obtain and renew a business license. To apply for a new business
license or renew your existing license, you will need to create an account with the new system. Existing business owners will need to use the same email address
that was listed when they applied for the license. If your email has changed or you are not sure what email address the City has on file for your business, please
contact Tyese Williams, Business License Clerk, at firstname.lastname@example.org

Thank you for your interest in locating your business in Layton City. A valid Layton City business license is required for all businesses
located within the Layton City incorporated limits.
"Business" means all kinds of vocations, occupations, professions, enterprises, establishments, services provided, and all other kinds of
commercial activities and matters, including the keeping of a machine, which are conducted for private profit or benefit, either directly or
indirectly, on any premises in the City or anywhere else within its jurisdiction.
Business Licensing Fees
All licensing fees are as set forth in the
City's Consolidated Fee Schedule. To avoid delays in application approval,
please contact Business Licensing to verify the fee associated with your business.
Business License Renewal
Each business license expires one (1) year from the date of issuance. Approximately twenty (20) days prior to the expiration date
of the business license a renewal letter and renewal form will be mailed to the mailing address of record. If there are no changes
to the business name, address or ownership, an Online Business License Renewal has been developed for your convenience.
IMPORTANT: If your business has had one or more of the following: Location Change, Name Change, or Ownership Change, your current
license is not transferable, causing the license to no longer be valid and therefore may not be renewed. A new business license
application must be submitted for approval.
